Tempe, AZ - On Saturday, April 19, over 20 IAVA Member Veterans and Supporters turned out to support the Tillman Foundation by participating in Pat's Run as a part of Team IAVA. The race, now in its fourth year, was run by over 19,000 people.

The runners crossed the finish-line at the 42 yardline of the Arizona State University Sun Devils Stadium where Tillman played college football as number 42.

IAVA also hosted a team dinner the night before, allowing for team veterans and supporters to meet up and get to know each other.

We would like to send a special thank you to everyone that was involved in day’s activities, and an extra special thanks is necessary for Scott Stanford, Rob Schramm, and Cara Hammer. Without their help in the weeks leading up to Pat’s Run, Team IAVA would never have been as successful as it was.

Here's what some members of Team IAVA had to say about Pat's Run:

"Pat's Run is one of Arizona's most anticipated events of the year. At this year's Pat's Run, IAVA team members reached out to countless Tillman Foundation supporters, from fellow veterans and ASU football players, to family members of soldiers and supportive individuals. As Team IAVA members, we were constantly stopped to answer questions about the organization. It was great to be able to spread the word that such a dedicated and hard working organization exists for the good of the troops and their families. Without a doubt, IAVA is something Pat Tillman himself would have supported, so it was amazing to see Pat's supporters get behind us!"

-Cara Hammer, IAVA Member Veteran (OIF II)

"Pat's Run was a great way to celebrate a heroic American and enjoy the camaraderie of others while promoting IAVA's mission."

-Danielle Carlock, IAVA Grassroots Supporter

"This was by far one of the best days I had in a long time. Being part of Pat's Run is great and it's for an awesome cause, but getting the chance to meet other Vets from the various branches and all walks of life made it ten times better. Thanks IAVA for your time and setting this up, I look forward to next year."

-Chris Kurz, IAVA Member Veteran (OIF III)
