"Sounds of Wartime" proclaims chattering class is arguing about "something they know absolutely nothing about" on Iraq
NEW YORK - Operation Truth (www.optruth.org), an organization advocating for Veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is launching a new national radio ad campaign today, and they are pulling no punches.
The ad, narrated by former Navy SEAL and Vietnam Veteran, Gov. Jesse Ventura, plays a number of sounds known well by the Veterans of the current wars, followed by the chattering of television and radio debates on Iraq, declaring, "This the sound of people .arguing about something they know absolutely nothing about. Maybe we should be listening to the people who were there."
An audio version of the ad can be found here, or by going to www.optruth.org. "We felt it was time to pick a fight with the mainstream media," said Founder and Executive Director Paul Rieckhoff, himself a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. "No matter how much politicians in Washington or talking heads on TV say they know what the war in Iraq is all about, they don't have the slightest idea -- because they weren't there. Only the men and women who served on the front lines can give you the real deal. You'll get a better assessment of how the war is going by visiting OpTruth.org and reading soldiers' stories than you'll get from watching hours of these talking heads on FOX News and MSNBC or listening to talk radio hosts."
The initial ad buy, though modest, will air over 1700 times in just over 150 markets. Operation Truth has sent an email alert to its grassroots database, asking for enough small donations to expand the reach of the ad.
The group estimates that a minimum of $10,000 in small donations will be needed to effectively target audiences of all geopolitical and economic stripes.
Operation Truth is a non-profit, non-partisan organization educating the American public about the truth of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan from the perspective of the soldiers who have experienced them first-hand. |
