Founder and Executive Director of Operation Truth Paul Rieckhoff  honored by Esquire magazine as one of the nation's "best and brightest." NEW YORK - Founder and Executive Director of Operation Truth Paul Rieckhoff is featured in a piece done by Tom Brokaw on tonight's NBC Nightly News, after being honored last night by Esquire magazine as one of the nation's "best and brightest." The piece on NBC this evening may be the final report filed by Brokaw before his retirement, and focuses on the core mission of Operation Truth -
bringing the first-hand accounts of the war to the American people. Esquire honored Rieckhoff for his work forming Operation Truth in the latest edition, and again last night at an event in New York City.

"This issue is about hope," says Esquire Editor-in-Chief David Granger. "The search in and of itself was inspiring. It became clear that ours is a land of dreamers who become doers. And as amazing as our honorees are, they merely represent this country's great potential."

In the past few months, Operation Truth has emerged as the only non-partisan Iraq veterans organization aimed at bringing Americans the wide-ranging accounts of the war that only the troops who served can tell.

"I am pleased that the media seem to be 'getting it,'" said Rieckhoff. "They now understand that there has been a real disconnect between the soldiers fighting this war and the American people. Now, it is up to them to take the stories we provide and send them out to a mass audience, so that the American people can come to a truly informed opinion about the war."
