DCOn February 2nd, IAVA launched one of its most important projects to date: the 2007 IAVA Legislative Agenda. The agenda contains 31 action items for the new Congress: concrete steps lawmakers can take to get troops and veterans the support they need and deserve.

A few days later, a delegation of IAVA Member Veterans went to Washington, D.C. to meet with Senators and Representatives on both sides of the aisle. The trip gave lawmakers the opportunity to hear about veterans' priorities straight from some of the men and women who have been on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This was a crucial step in our efforts to create real change in Washington, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our supporters. Iraq Veteran and IAVA Representative Perry Jefferies summed it up:

A lot of people paid a lot of money to send us to Washington DC in the hopes that we'd get some changes made. I think we did and I think you deserve to know what we did with your generous resources.  There's a lot of causes out there needing support and lots of ways to help the troops and Veterans. I thank you for choosing ours and we will continue to do our best to earn your donations and to get something done. That's real support for the troops.”
