Esam Pasha is a leading contemporary artist in Iraq. He is renowned for painting over the largest mural portrait of Saddam Hussein, replacing it with his own allegorical mural of the history of Iraq. In this exhibition, Esam shows his "Tears of Wax" paintings, created at night during the 2003 bombings of Baghdad. Esam and his work have been covered by CNN and the Christian Science Monitor, as well as WCBS in New York. The evening will be an excellent opportunity to learn about the experiences of Iraqi civilians, as well as to appreciate the work of one of Iraq's most renowned painters.
For the general public, tickets are $10. IAVA Iraq and Afghanistan veterans can attend for free. In either case, RSVP Devon at (212) 982-9699, or email .
