DC Veterans Happy Hour A Success! | Print |  Email
Many friendly faces and IAVA supporters showed up this past Friday to make DC's Veteran Happy Hour Kickoff a resounding success!

Nearly 40 IAVA supporters packed into Tommy Joe's in Besthesda, MD this past Friday. Cheap drinks, fellow veterans and rocking tunes from the band American Altitude made for a fun night. Present were veterans from both OIF and OEF. We had snipers, MPs, medics, sailors and marine infantry officers. We even had the national legislative director of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Joseph Violante, stop by with his wife. Although fun was had by all, no one was having more fun then Lt. Patrick Diener. One week ago Patrick had been shot in the arm while serving with his Marine unit in Iraq. He had been shipped back to the Navy Medical Center for rehab and Friday night was his first night of freedom! Needless to say, Patrick was the life of the party! As one veteran simply put it, "This was a good party, when is the next one!"
